Job Summary: Pharmacy Technician
Under direction of the Pharmacy Manager and in close partnership with other pharmacy and clinic staff, the Pharmacy Technician provides support to assure that Jane Pauley Community Health Center (JPCHC)
- operates a fully compliant, patient-centered, retail pharmacy service, and
- is positively impacting JPCHC patients’ wellness, health, and chronic disease management through meaningful integration of pharmacy expertise and customer service
The Pharmacy Technician demonstrates behaviors consistent with professional standards of practice, care, and the mission, values, policies, and goals of JPCHC.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintains a focus on the patient, providing patient centered service
- Accurately interprets prescriptions and completes data entry into the pharmacy dispensing system.
- Maintains complete and accurate patient records within the pharmacy dispensing system
- Submits claims to insurance and resolves rejected claims.
- Accurately completes the prescription production process of NDC verification, counting, bottling, and labeling.
- Provides medication to patients or caregivers at prescription pick after completion of pharmacist verification, verification of at least 2 patient identifiers, and collection of copayments.
- Maintains accurate inventory records and completes periodic inventory assessments, including but not limited to checking inventory in from wholesaler and completing cycle counts.
- Appropriately identifies and retains documents identified by the Director of Pharmacy as necessary to retain
- Accurately reconstitutes respective medications during pick up using Fillmaster
- Maintains a sanitary work environment, clear of dust and debris.
- Cleans workstations and waiting room as needed, including floors, chairs, counters and cabinets.
- Assists patients and clinic staff in understanding the most beneficial way to receive the medication: standard prescriptions, 340B, PAP, sample, etc.
- Making deliveries of medications to other clinic locations or patient homes.

Education And/or Experience
- Indiana Pharmacy Technician license, without restrictions.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certificate through PTCH or NHA preferred
- Ambulatory, Community, or Retail pharmacy experience.
- Experience and familiarity with Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) model of care preferred.
- Experience and familiarity with 340B pharmacy program as it relates to FQHC model of care preferred.
- Experience with project management, Six Sigma, lean, or other improvement methodology. Formal certification in lean or six-sigma preferred.
- Attributes of being highly organized, attending to detail, strong follow-up skills, taking initiative, persuasive, and mission-focused with well-developed oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates sound judgment, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Exhibits professionalism and confidentiality with all aspects of information in accordance with practice, State and Federal regulations.
- Proficient computer skills including with Microsoft Office and electronic health records.
- Ability to firmly manage relationships with vendors to the benefit of JPCHC and its patients.
