Responsibilities
Pharmacy Tech levels 1 - 5:
Assists the pharmacist in providing optimal pharmaceutical care to the patient. Gathers, labels and distributes medications accurately and efficiently. Packages, prepares and safely compounds medications including hazardous substances accurately and efficiently. Handles, manages and distributes controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements and department policies; and assists with drug diversion surveillance. Assists with maintaining accurate medication inventories and billing of medications. Effectively communicates utilizing established systems and processes. Performs responsibilities and duties of the job in a manner that is attentive to age and ability considerations.
Qualifications
Note: These qualifications apply to the Pharmacy Tech level 1, which are the minimum qualifications that must be met for all levels.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with the use of office software computer applications and keyboarding. Effectively reads, writes, speaks and understands English. Able to learn technical tasks. Able to follow written and verbal directions. Able to apply math and calculator skills along with a working knowledge of the metric system. Possess strong telephone and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a busy environment and pay attention to detail. Proven organizational and problem solving skills. Proven ability to effectively work both independently and in a team environment.
- Prior experience as a hospital pharmacy technician.
- No history of drug abuse or misuse; or proof of successful completion of a certified drug abuse rehabilitation program is required.
License or Certification
- Current registration with the Board of Pharmacy where required by state regulation, or eligibility for registration.
- National Pharmacy Technician certification within 12 months of hire.

Compensation Detail
Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. Note: This pay range spans from the minimum for a Tech I to the maximum for a Tech V. Placement within a level and within the range is dependent on experience and qualifications. $18.59 - $37.61 / hour

Schedule Details
Primarily 8-hour AM shifts, with a week of PM shifts every 4th week. AM shift start times range from 0630 to 0800 dependent on the scheduled role. PM shift start times range from 1400 to 1530, also dependent on the scheduled role. Two holidays per year on a rotation, may be either AM or PM.
